Digital music comes in numerous formats and only a few are supported by popular media players and mobile devices. Conversion utilities are the best solution if you encounter an unknown audio format. Awave Audio provides support for a vast range of audio formats and it is capable of fast file conversions. The application places a large number of configuration options at your disposal, which enable you to customize mostly any characteristics of your audio files.

The software is free to try, but with some limitations. It can be installed quickly, on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 and Win 8, without making any complex settings. Awave Audio doesn't use too much disk space and it doesn't require powerful hardware, but you may need a few codecs for certain audio formats.

Awave Audio works like a wizard, which means that converting audio files is a step-by-step operation. Although the software provides many options, as previously mentioned, the conversion procedure is quite easy and it doesn't take too long to prepare it. You can target one or more files, by adding them to a list, after which you may proceed to the next step and make your output settings.

Besides setting an output path and deciding how to handle file name conflicts, you can also choose one of many output formats from a drop menu. Awave Audio is capable of storing audio files in approximately 60 formats and it supports about 90 input formats. The software allows you to make many other adjustments as well. Selecting a data format, a dithering method, to remove white noise, resampling and normalizing the audio files are just a few examples. If you are satisfied with your settings, you may click the Next button and the conversion process will start right away.

Awave Audio doesn't force you to convert all input files to the same format. While making your output settings, you can tick an option for multiple output formats. With this option selected, you will find options for selecting an output format for each file, after clicking the Next button. You can also decide to use additional effects on your audio files. Just like the multiple output formats, the effects can be selected and configured on separate pages, if the appropriate options are selected.

Pros

The application supports numerous audio formats. It allows you to convert all files to the same format or select different formats for individual files. Besides converting files, you can also resample and normalize them, add effects and much more.

Cons

The trial version will convert only the first 60 seconds of one file per batch. Awave Audio provides you with all the options you need to make your music compatible with any device or media player.
